Schlafender Hase: “iSpring gives us the freedom to create in-house – and customers recognise the love we put into every quiz”

Schlafender Hase develops specialised file-comparison software for regulated industries. Its core product is the TVT (Text Verification Tool) platform, which helps organisations automate text, image, spelling, and barcode checks across documents and artwork.

The company uses iSpring Suite to build video-based certification courses for TVT users and publish them through its learning portal. Its training team has produced three courses, each with more than 10 videos and quizzes, while reducing production time and keeping the work in-house.

Giuseppe Napoli, Head of Training and Product Support at Schlafender Hase, shares how iSpring helps the company get its customers certified on TVT through an LMS.

Schlafender Hase with iSpring: challenge, solution, and results

Founded more than 20 years ago, our company has offices in Frankfurt, Germany, and Cambridge, Massachusetts, and supports customers worldwide. We hold internationally recognised ISO certifications that prove our dedication to protecting your data and delivering consistent quality in everything we do.

As stated on the Schlafender Hase official website, 20 out of 20 top global pharmaceutical companies use TVT, which has more than 440 customers in total. Our TVT product compares text and images across file formats and layouts. Related tools review printers’ proofs, check spelling in multilingual documents with specialised terminology, and verify barcode readability.

Our mission is to empower regulated industries by providing precise content comparison solutions that enhance compliance and eliminate errors. Our team creates and maintains the eLearning behind customer success.

Training is part of every TVT licence. Customers can take self-paced courses with videos and quizzes, use them as refreshers, and earn user certificates. Live and blended training are available when a team needs to work through its own files or processes with an instructor.

The challenge: The previous quiz tool offered too few options for creating varied, engaging courses

Before iSpring, the two trainers built lessons and assessments with the learning portal’s native quiz system. The portal did its job as an LMS. The friction was in authoring: the team could not shape questions or their visual presentation as freely as it wanted.

“We didn’t have enough freedom in the way we designed questions or presented them visually. Creating quiz questions was boring for our team, and going through each lesson felt, for lack of a better word, sterile.”

On the authoring side, every new assessment meant returning to the same limits. The team began actively looking for software that could, as Napoli put it, “spice up our eLearning experience” without adding a steep learning curve.

The solution: iSpring Suite, the perfect balance of price and ease of use

With only two trainers producing course content, Schlafender Hase needed a solution that made sense both financially and practically.

“Pricing put iSpring on our shortlist. Then we tried it, and its intuitive workflow made it an easy choice.”

One workflow from screen recording to finished quiz

Each module starts with the software itself. The team records a screen capture with narration, then adds an intro and outro, all on the same platform. Once the walkthrough is ready, the trainers listen back to the audio and pull out the moments that should become assessment questions.

They create a reusable template in iSpring QuizMaker and use it as the base for individual question and information slides. Screen recording, editing, course assembly, and quiz authoring stay in the same suite, so the trainers no longer have to move course files between separate applications.

Questions that fit software training

Sequence questions stood out early. They ask learners to arrange items in the correct order rather than select one answer from a list. Napoli says this and several other question types felt as though they were made for training people to use TVT.

The team also has more control over the way a question looks and what learners see after they respond. Feedback does not have to stop at “correct” or “incorrect.” The trainers can customise the response text and the slide built around it.

“We go wild with the questions and responses in the quizzes, and customers recognise the love we put into it.”

Results achieved with iSpring: three courses, lower production costs, and fewer barriers to creating more

Napoli describes the reduction in production time as significant. The work can be completed in-house, and content no longer has to pass between different authoring and media tools. A new course no longer carries the same production burden it did under the old workflow.

“The cost savings are huge, and the decision about whether we create another course is much easier.”

The two-person team has now completed three courses. Each contains more than 10 videos and quizzes, taking customers from narrated software demonstrations into checks on what they have just seen. The courses are available through the TVT eLearning portal for self-paced study and certification.
