Ultimately, Learning and Development is a proactive partner that drives both individual and company success.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2 id=\"When-you-expand-your-learning-program,-how-do-you-generate-buy-in-from-those-who-will-be-participating-in-it?\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">When you expand your learning program, how do you generate buy-in from those who will be participating in it?<\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">My approach to generating buy-in focuses on three key areas:<\/span><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Making the content relevant<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Showing the personal benefit for each learner<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Involving them in the process<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<h3>First, the content must be relevant to the learner<\/h3>\n<blockquote>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">I make sure our courses are tailored to the employees&rsquo; actual needs and don&rsquo;t waste their time with information they don&rsquo;t need in their daily work.&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">For courses with different target groups, I like to use tools like <\/span><strong>branching scenarios<\/strong><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> within a course to create different paths. This way, everyone gets the version that&rsquo;s right for their specific role.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3>Next, it&rsquo;s crucial to show learners how the training will help them<\/h3>\n<blockquote>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It&rsquo;s not enough to just announce a new course. We need to explain exactly how it will help them succeed in their roles.&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">For example: &ldquo;<\/span><em><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This training will help you improve the following KPIs<\/span><\/em><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">,&rdquo; or &ldquo;<\/span><em><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This will make you more effective in handling customer requests<\/span><\/em><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.&rdquo;&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">When learners see a direct link between the training and their daily work and success in their role, they are much more motivated.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3>Finally, I involve the learners in the creation process<\/h3>\n<blockquote>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">I often ask for volunteers to be part of a pilot group to test new courses and provide feedback.&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This not only helps me improve the final course and make it relevant for the learner, but it also turns these participants into champions for the new course. When they tell their colleagues, &ldquo;<\/span><em><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This new course is really helpful<\/span><\/em><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">,&rdquo; that <\/span><strong>peer-to-peer recommendation is more powerful than any announcement<\/strong><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2 id=\"How-do-you-establish-positive-momentum-with-new-implementations-and-keep-it-going-with-existing-learning-programs?\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">How do you establish positive momentum with new implementations and keep it going with existing learning programs?<\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">That&rsquo;s a great question because we put a lot of thought into exactly that. Our approach has two distinct phases:<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Establishing momentum: teasers, a mascot, and storytelling<\/span><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">To establish momentum, we treated the launch of our LMS, our &lsquo;Company Academy,&rsquo; like a marketing campaign:&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Before the launch, we ran a <\/span><strong>teaser campaign<\/strong><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> with images and messages like &ldquo;<\/span><em><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">A new way for learning and growth<\/span><\/em><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">,&rdquo; all pointing to a specific launch date.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The launch itself then included a <\/span><strong>story<\/strong><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.&nbsp;<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">We introduced a <\/span><strong>unique mascot<\/strong><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> for the academy, and our first course was a high-quality, storytelling-based experience.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The result was that engagement from day one was extremely high. We generated a lot of curiosity and excitement, and positive feedback came in organically.<\/span><\/p>\n<div class=\"image_wrapper\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-88659 size-full\" src=\"\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/welcome-wunderflats-academy.jpg\" alt=\"Wunderflats Academy\" width=\"1500\" height=\"1021\" \/><\/div>\n<h3><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">To keep momentum: relevance, gamification, feedback<\/span><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Now, to keep that momentum going, our strategy is built on consistency and relevance:<\/span><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">We <\/span><strong>continue to use our mascot<\/strong><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> in regular communications, like our weekly &ldquo;Learning Tuesday&rdquo; updates, which creates a strong and recognizable brand.&nbsp;<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">We&rsquo;re also driving engagement through <\/span><strong>gamification with leaderboards<\/strong><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and by actively collecting <\/span><strong>feedback<\/strong><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, allowing people to request topics so they feel that they&rsquo;re part of the academy&rsquo;s evolution.&nbsp;<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">But our most important strategy is creating <\/span><strong>highly relevant content<\/strong><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. We are focused on launching new courses that solve real everyday problems for our employees.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">When teams notice that a course makes their daily work easier or more effective, they naturally stay engaged. It&rsquo;s the best way to make learning part of our everyday growth culture.<\/span><\/p>\n<div class=\"image_wrapper\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-88655 size-full\" src=\"\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/wunderflats-academy.jpg\" alt=\"The Wunderflats Academy central hub\" width=\"1500\" height=\"1021\" \/><\/div>\n<h2 id=\"What-is-one-thing-you-would-tell-your-younger-self-about-instructional-design-or-learning-development?\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">What is one thing you would tell your younger self about instructional design or learning development?<\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Oh, the first thing would probably be, &ldquo;<\/span><em><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Hey, that thing you&rsquo;re doing is called Learning and Development!<\/span><\/em><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">&rdquo;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>I stumbled into the L&amp;D world, almost by accident. <\/strong><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It started when I took over onboarding in our Customer Support team. At that time, there wasn&rsquo;t a proper structure in place, so I began building it from scratch with live training.&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">From there, I introduced quality management in our operations department and connected it with a more strategic learning approach. Eventually, I discovered instructional design and rolled out our first LMS.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>Just knowing the terms &lsquo;Instructional Design&rsquo; and &lsquo;L&amp;D&rsquo; earlier would have been a game-changer.<\/strong><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> I would have found amazing online communities, like the <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.linkedin.com\/groups\/12786108\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">iSpring learning Exchange<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> on LinkedIn, or exciting opportunities, like the <\/span><a href=\"\/ispring-course-creation-contest\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">course creation contest<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, so much sooner.&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It would have unlocked the right books that helped me to grow, the right courses and online resources, and the right connections much faster.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">And that leads to the second thing I&rsquo;d tell my younger self:&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Actively participate in those communities. Network, share your experiences, and ask questions.&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The moment I started doing that, it opened up a world of new opportunities, fascinating contacts, and insights that have pushed me much further.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Actually, that advice I don&rsquo;t just give to my younger self but to my current self, too. I&rsquo;ve seen how rewarding it can be, and I know there is still room to grow and participate in those communities even more.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2 id=\"What-insights-would-you-like-to-share-regarding-your-day-to-day-operations-that-others-may-find-surprising?-\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">What insights would you like to share regarding your day-to-day operations that others may find surprising?&nbsp;<\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">I think a surprising insight is the fundamental mindset required for this role, of being a <\/span><strong>&ldquo;performance detective&rdquo; first and a course creator second.&nbsp;<\/strong><\/p>\n<h3><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Finding the root cause<\/span><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It&rsquo;s easy to assume that if there&rsquo;s a business challenge or update, training is automatically the solution. But I believe <\/span><strong>the most crucial first step is to investigate the root cause of the challenge<\/strong><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This investigation might lead to the surprising conclusion that the most effective solution isn&rsquo;t a course at all, but a change in a process or a simple job aid.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">My goal is to always propose the right solution to a problem, not just to produce content on request.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Then, if that detective work shows that a course is the right path, the second core principle comes into play: designing specifically for adult learners at work.&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Designing for adult learners at work<\/span><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This is completely different from the classic school model of learning. The entire creative process must focus on connecting learning to practice and answering the question, &ldquo;How will this help me in my job?&rdquo;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">But perhaps the most fulfilling and surprising insight of all is the human element:<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">When you see an employee who was initially struggling or unsure suddenly gain confidence and become a successful, high-performing member of the team, that&rsquo;s the real &ldquo;why&rdquo; behind all of it.&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">To be effective in this role, <\/span><strong>you must be a constant learner yourself<\/strong><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. And there is nothing more rewarding than seeing that translate into the growth of others. Being able to help others grow and see them succeed is extremely fulfilling.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2 id=\"What-methods-have-you-used-in-the-past-to-overcome-obstacles-in-managing-learning-programs?-\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">What methods have you used in the past to overcome obstacles in managing learning programs?&nbsp;<\/span><\/h2>\n<p><strong>The biggest obstacle in any learning program isn&rsquo;t budget or technology; it&rsquo;s employee attention and engagement. <\/strong><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">People are busy, and the default assumption often is, &ldquo;I don&rsquo;t have time for this.&rdquo; So, the obstacle we needed to overcome was potential indifference.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">My method of tackling this was to treat the implementation not as an administrative rollout, but as an <\/span><strong>internal product launch<\/strong><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Instead of just sending an email saying, &ldquo;Here is the new tool,&rdquo; we built a<\/span><strong> small marketing campaign around it<\/strong><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. We created curiosity with a teaser campaign, we gave our &lsquo;Company Academy&rsquo; a strong brand with a unique mascot, and we made sure the very first piece of content was an engaging, story-driven experience.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This method overcomes the obstacle by shifting the dynamic:<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">We didn&rsquo;t just push information out. We created a pull by making people curious and showing them from day one that learning can be exciting and valuable.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It turned a potential &ldquo;have to do&rdquo; task into a &ldquo;want to check out&rdquo; opportunity.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2 id=\"How-are-you-using-or-how-are-you-planning-to-use-elements-of-AI-to-aid-your-learning-program?\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">How are you using or how are you planning to use elements of AI to aid your learning program?<\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It&rsquo;s incredible to see how quickly AI has evolved and how it&rsquo;s opening up new possibilities to elevate course design. I&rsquo;ve embraced it in my work, and my use of AI has changed significantly over the past 1-2 years.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">On writing and winning with AI<\/span><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Initially, I used AI mostly as a creative partner for writing. For example, in my course for last year&rsquo;s iSpring Contest, &ldquo;A Journey Through the History of Customer Service,&rdquo; the concept was a fun, adventurous time-travel story.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">AI was a huge help in refining all the text &mdash; from the slide content to the narration scripts and quiz questions &mdash; to maintain a consistent, humorous tone. It helped me structure my ideas and make the content clear and engaging.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Since I was new to the authoring tool back then, I also found the <\/span><a href=\"\/ispring-suite\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">iSpring Suite<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> AI Assistant very helpful for getting ideas on how to technically build some of the features I had in mind.<\/span><\/p>\n<div class=\"image_wrapper\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" title=\"\" src=\"\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/editor\/2025\/11\/mceu3smi5nk9a6uru0jz1fethrj7hxswp-1763535599.png\" alt=\"AI Assistant in iSpring Suite\" width=\"792\" height=\"410\" \/><\/div>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">But over the last year, the progress in AI image and video generation has been a complete game-changer.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">On image generation with AI<\/span><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">For a new course introducing our company academy, I was able to create a much richer, visual story. I generated a custom character &mdash; an owl in our company colors &mdash; and AI allowed me to keep that character perfectly consistent across many different poses. Consistent characters with transparent backgrounds have been the biggest challenge with AI image generators before.<\/span><\/p>\n<div class=\"image_wrapper\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" title=\"\" src=\"\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/editor\/2025\/11\/mceu4smi5nmji51otl1f41x7hbge1vh6qoy-1763535707.png\" alt=\"Syncing training calendar online course\" width=\"792\" height=\"572\" \/><\/div>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The real highlight, however, was the intro video. Using Google&rsquo;s Veo 3, I created a fully animated, cinematic opening sequence that brought the owl character to life, complete with narration and music. While creating an online course takes some upfront effort, the investment pays off quickly.
