Efes Rus is one of the Russia’s biggest beer producers, a division of an international brewery Anadolu Efes. Currently, Efes Rus has 6 brewhouses (in Kaluga, Ufa, Kazan, Novosibirsk, Ulyanovsk, and Vladivostok) and 1 malthouse on the asset side.

Problem

In the beginning of 2015, the task was set to optimize the learning process, make it available for all employees, reduce onboarding time, and minimize costs on conducting basic training programs. We couldn’t even train regional supervisors using traditional learning techniques in the field. It was time to implement a learning management system.

We began to build the system in early 2015. None of our staff was experienced at distance learning and working with order-related tools. We had very challenging tasks to perform and very tight deadlines. To make it happen, we had to find an e-Learning development tool which would let us create high-quality mobile-ready courses. It also had to be easy enough for our trainers to master.

Solution

After monitoring the market, we decided on iSpring Suite. This tool met all of our requirements and helped us pull off a miracle.

Here were the major factors:

1. Ease of use

iSpring Suite is a PowerPoint add-in, and every trainer is familiar with PowerPoint. No special skills needed to create high-quality e-Learning courses with iSpring. You only need to be able to make a well-worked presentation to upgrade it with iSpring afterwards: add some extras and convert it to SCORM. It is no problem to figure out how it works.

2. Support of HTML5 format (for playing courses on mobile devices)

This feature is front and center right now. When publishing a course, check a single checkbox, and your course is ready for viewing on a smartphone. It’s fast, easy, and convenient.

3. Support of various LMSs

We wanted the tool to support Webtutor LMS, and we didn’t have any problems with uploading iSpring-generated courses. In addition to publishing courses for an LMS, there’s a range of other publishing options, like saving to CD or hard drive, direct publishing to iSpring Learn LMS, and more.

4. Quiz making tool

iSpring QuizMaker is worth mentioning separately. I could never imagine it was so easy to create quizzes. Now that I’m experienced enough at working with different quiz making tools, I can safely say it’s a pleasure to work with iSpring QuizMaker. It is just as feature-rich as more sophisticated and more expensive tools. A variety of quiz settings, different question types, a capability to create surveys, customizable quiz player — everything is excellently implemented. We also really loved the way the quiz player adapts to a mobile screen.

5. Tech support

High-quality service in a timely manner. They instantly react to any request and are always available via both phone and email.

Result

With iSpring, our experts have turned into e-Learning developers. With no more than 2 team members working on each course, it took us about 3 to 5 days to complete each project, given that we created courses from scratch, not just updated existing ones. Each course contained no less than 100 slides. The courses always included both theory and practical tasks (created either with iSpring or standard PowerPoint capabilities).

Thanks to iSpring, a PowerPoint presentation comes to life and interacts with a learner. A course author can create a presentation with a structure (slide sequence, branching, etc.) of virtually any complexity. The above mentioned features are only part of the tool’s advantages. We have managed to create a whole collection of quality and effective e-Learning courses with minimum expense and in a minimum time. Now we have 12 full-featured courses created with iSpring. We use them on all internal corporate portals. Another success criterion is that our representatives in the CIS decided to join the LMS. We provide them with our source PowerPoint presentations so that they can adapt them to their specific needs.

The tool’s potential is much stronger than that. We are planning to create more sophisticated training systems for our sales staff with iSpring. We have also tried working with other programs. However, iSpring truly remains the main tool in our toolkit, as, unlike others, it actually makes the work easier and the process of course creation fun and pleasant.
