Use Timings to Sync PowerPoint Audio and Animations

The tiny option “Use Timings” on the “SLIDE SHOW” tab in PowerPoint makes a great change in a presentation playback. Sometimes toggling this option on or off is the way to resolve the problem when your presentation advances not as it is supposed to.

How to sync audio and animations in PowerPoint

Timings option is associated with audio narrations in PowerPoint. You can record or add audio to PowerPoint and tune your animation timings using “Rehearse Timings”.

When “Use Timings” box is checked, animations will fire automatically on time and stay in sync with sound. If animations have to be changed manually, it can be achieved by just turning “Use Timings” off.

iSpring narration logic inherits the one that is from PowerPoint. This means that even if you have everything synced perfectly in iSpring’s “Manage Narration” tool, but “Use Timings” in PowerPoint is off, animations in the converted presentation will not advance automatically.

Q: The PPT slides which have animation are not transitioning automatically (the rest are). In the narration editor, it all seems fine.
When I click “Play”, the presentation begins, the transition happens, yet the presentation stops within seconds.

A: Make sure that SLIDE SHOW → "Use timings" option is checked.

Q: My slide timings are all off after conversion with iSpring, animations appear too fast. In PowerPoint everything seems to work fine.

A: Go to iSpring → Slide Properties, select all slides (Crtl + A) and set timing to 0 seconds. Make sure that SLIDE SHOW → "Use timings" option is checked.

Q: I have synced all animations with the audio but now want to advance them on click like they used to be. How would I roll it back easily?

A: Go to SLIDE SHOW → uncheck "Use timings".
