How to work with interactive books in iSpring Suite 9

The brand new version of iSpring Suite 9 shifts the option to create interactive books entirely to iSpring Flip. This makes it possible to create book templates entirely in PowerPoint, where you can create even more user-engaging content. Another advantage is that PowerPoint-based books can be tracked page by page in an LMS.

iSpring Suite 9 does not have the Book interaction. If you want your iSpring Suite 8 interactive books to work in courses made with Version 9, you can use iSpring Book Updater, a free utility developed by iSpring. With it, you can convert your interactive books created in Version 8 to PowerPoint presentations which can be published later as HTML5 documents in iSpring Flip. Then, you can insert HTML5 books onto the slides of your PowerPoint courses.

How to publish an interactive book in the new format

Follow these steps to publish an interactive book created in iSpring Visuals 8 as an HTML5 document:

1. Download iSpring Book Updater here.

2. Find the original file of the interaction.

   If the interaction was a part of a PowerPoint course, the original .kntx file can be found in the Project Folder of the course, which is .\presentation_name\interactions.

3. Select the .kntx interaction file and drag it to the iSpring Book Updater icon.

   The conversion process will start. Then you’ll see a new PowerPoint (.pptx) file with your book.

   

4. Download and install iSpring Flip.

5. Launch iSpring Flip and convert the book from a .pptx file to an HTML5 document.

Now, the published HTML5 book can be uploaded to your website, your LMS, or you can use it as part of a PowerPoint course.

How to insert an interactive book in a PowerPoint course

Follow these steps to insert a book in a PowerPoint course:

1. Open a presentation and create a new slide where you want to insert a book.

2. Go to the iSpring tab and click Web.

   

3. In the Insert Web Object window, select Local Path from the drop-down list.

4. Then, select the index.html file of the published book inside the folder created by iSpring Flip.

   

5. In the Insert Web Object window, select Include all files and subfolders and click OK.

6. Publish the course to the format you need.

If you want to make changes in one of your books, you can make them in the PowerPoint presentation you get after the conversion process. For example, you can do things you weren’t able to do in iSpring Visuals 8: design the front and the back covers, employ rich text, tables and charts, and everything else PowerPoint offers. Then, when you’re satisfied with all your changes, publish it to an HTML5 book.
