The Timeline interaction can be used to visualize the events that were happening during a certain time period. You can tell your brand's story, illustrate the evolution of programming languages or represent the steps of your product development.

The timeline can include multiple periods, which in turn can consist of events.

Adding Periods

  1. To add a new period, click the Add Period button on the toolbar.



  2. A new period will appear in the Events list and on the timeline.



  3. Enter the period title and description. This is what the users will see on the slide for this period. 



  4. Add extra content to the period description: images, videos, an audio track, rich text, characters, a background or objects. To do this, go to the Insert tab and select the option you need. To make the tab appear, place the cursor into the period description area.

    You can add an unlimited number of periods.

Adding Events

  1. To add a new event to a period, select a period and click the Add Event button on the toolbar.



  2. A new event will appear in the Events list and on the timeline.



  3. Enter the event title and description. This is what the users will see on the slide for this event. 


  4. Add extra content to the event description: images, videos, an audio track, rich text, characters, a background or objects. To do this, go to the Insert tab and select the option you need. To make the tab appear, place the cursor into the event description area.



    You can add an unlimited number of events.

Changing Period Color

  1. To change the period color, select it in the Events list and click the Period Color button on the toolbar.
  2. Choose one of the default colors in the Theme Colors drop-down.
  3. If you can't find the right color, pick one in the More colors window.
  4. In the Colors window you can:
  5. Choose one of the default or recently used colors.



  6. Choose a color on the color scale.



  7. Enter the RGB values.



  8. Enter the color code manually.



  9. Use the Eyedropper tool.
  • Select the period you want to change the color of.



  • Click the Eyedropper tool icon.



  • Place the tool onto the slide area you want to copy the color of. It can be an area outside of the iSpring Visuals window.



    Left-click and the highlighted period will change its color.
  1. Arranging Periods and Events
  2. To change the order of the periods or the events, select a period or an event and drag it along the Events list to place it in another position. To select multiple periods or events at once, hold the Ctrl button on the keyboard and select the periods or events. 
  3. You can move the periods and the events using the Move up and Move down buttons in the context menu. To open the context menu, right-click the period or the event in the Events list.
  4. Duplicating Periods and Events
  5. To create a duplicate of a period or an event, click the Duplicate button in the context menu. An identical period or an event will appear on the timeline and in the Events list.
  6. Deleting Periods and Events
  7. To remove a period or an event, select it in the list and click the Delete button on the toolbar, on the keyboard or in the context menu.
  8. Adding Introduction and Summary
  9. To add an introduction and summary to your interaction, tick the boxes above and below the periods and the events in the Events list.
  10. Add a title and a description to the introduction and the summary in the editing area.
